Music School Finder’s 2027 Southeast Standouts recognize a focused group of programs whose current profiles align especially well with this distinction’s published criteria. The aim is to make meaningful program differences easier for prospective students and families to see.
This is an editorial distinction, not a numerical ranking. Inclusion reflects the evidence available during MSF’s 2027 review and should be considered alongside each student’s goals, preferred learning environment, budget, and artistic fit.

The 2027 Standouts
Programs included in the 2027 Southeast Standouts meet this category’s published qualification: Programs are selected for the breadth, quality, and distinctiveness of their undergraduate music opportunities within the region. Selection also considers each program’s training model, scale, student experience, and contribution to the region’s range of undergraduate music options.
What This Recognition Means
An MSF Standout identifies a program with a notable strength, structure, or evidence base in a defined area. It does not predict admission, affordability for a particular family, employment, artistic success, or personal fit.
The Standouts are not a comprehensive ranking of every strong music program. Schools do not pay to be selected, and commercial relationships do not determine inclusion.
